Sixteen-year-old Amy Love is a junior in high school who describes herself as having “average looks, pathetic grades, and a closet comic strip addiction.” She not only loves comic strips, she longs to create a comic strip professionally herself someday.

Amy’s life is fairly ordinary until the day that sixteen-year-old Jonathan Miller, who is a fellow student at the public high school Amy attends, dies suddenly in a traffic accident, and his spirit shows up during a Ouija board session with her two best friends. In order to better communicate with Amy and seek her help, Jonathan possesses her body, throwing her spirit out of her body in order to achieve that. At first Amy only wants to help Jonathan figure out why he is still hanging around, rather than moving on to wherever ghosts go, so she can get her body back. But when he returns her body to her and proceeds to take over the body of a male classmate of Amy, she finds herself getting caught up in the drama of Jonathan’s tragic situation, and her feelings of sympathy and caring for him grow as the two of them, together, rush to find a solution to his frightening situation.

This G-rated, contemporary, young-adult romance novel has a fun, humorous, paranormal twist, particularly in the way the author resolves the main plot conflict to produce a happy ending in keeping with the light tone of the book overall.

Amy and Jonathan are sympathetic characters, first and foremost because they never give up. They face obstacle after obstacle and just keep going.

This YA novel stands out among the vast majority of paranormal YA novels these days in that it is filled with many humorous plot twists as it pursues a cute, quirky take on the paranormal, in contrast to the typically very dark YA paranormal novels.

This novel is suitable for all ages. There is no foul language, no sex, no drinking, smoking or drugs, and no wild parties.
